Silly Ted - he was Orion's good buddy on this trip. Here he is doing Orion's favorite thing!
Orion wants to give it a try.
While we were cleaning up toys, Orion was trying to carry stuff between two paddles - it was pretty funny.
Then it was time to move on to beading! Ted's wife, Cathy, had all her supplies out, and Orion was fascinated! These next three pictures crack me up because I also make funny mouth shapes when I am concentration on things. Orion is threading beads with a really thin string, like fishing line.
Ted continues to be popular with the young crowd.
Then we decided to see if we could get down to the river. The last part of the trail was really steep! But we slid on down with some help.
Lots of shells at the waterline.
The campground was overlooking the Bonneville damn. It was actually a pretty interesting place as there was a little building and patio with a view of the water. As it turns out, it was built as a viewing area way back when they were building the dam. That was the area where all the group meals happened.
Orion mastering the twist LOL. In other words, he was stretching around to try and get shells in his back pocket.
Another new fascination! He sat and put the chips in there and emptied them for like an hour.
Then Kaya wanted to play, but it was too hot for her. This was her solution to finding shade. Of course she is brilliant - she is homeschooled!
Orion walking the labyrinth(pretty cool campout theme by the way). I wanted to convey some sense of there being an important reason for taking the journey in and out, so I told him to make a wish when he got to the center. To my surprise, he took it really seriously. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath like he was doing something quite important. My little mystic in the making. :)
Community area and the building I mentioned in the background.
Little nature altar the CUUPS folks set up.
Orion adding a feather to the altar flowers.
Tiny Goddess set into a niche.
Ron finally got to come up Saturday afternoon! Here he is being a small boy magnet with his electronic device.
This was actually a shot I took checking out the multiframe function (or whatever it is called) but it turned out to be a good picture of Ron.
