You know you are practicing EC when...

...one of your baby's first words is "poopoo". Akasha loves to say this now. She says it whenever she sees a toilet, whenever anybody sits down on the toilet and the best part, when she actually goes! I have no luck with teaching her that "peepee" is a different word. Apparently, like "boof", this is going to be another all purpose word. She also says it when she passes gas, and I have just started realizing in the last few days she is saying it when she pees also! She has no interest in sitting on the potty these days as she is much too busy practicing walking, but it is great that the communication part is still happening, which means I can get the diapers off her quickly when she is wet.

The Night of the Living Poo

Sorry that is the best I can do for wit at this hour on only a few hours sleep last night. And really, who cares about poo? Well, some of my friends do! So if you are not one of them, just don't read this post!

I went to a Diaper Free Baby meeting recently and shared that while we have great luck with catching pees, Akasha doesn't seem to have any pattern when it comes to pooping, or give much warning sign. Well, tonight has been interesting because I have started picking up on something. I would have rather been in bed, but I guess it is good to be learning something if I am stuck awake. :)

She hasn't gone for a few days, so I knew she was "due". Well, of all nights, when Orion is asleep and I really wanted to go to bed early, she has needed to go several times. She keeps getting out just a little bit at a time. She has gone 4 times over the last couple hours! But if pooping can be cute, this is as cute as it gets. I have realized she is totally silent and still for one thing. So while it might not be an obvious sign, it is a sign for sure. But the cute thing is that she has crawled over, gotten on her knees and put her hands on my leg every single time. So she is getting in this slightly leaning forward position. Then the total silence and concentration LOL. Pooping is serious business! Please tell me she is done now!

More Markerface and EC Tricks

Guess it was a moosetache this time, as he pronounces it.
A mom on the Diaper Free group asked me to explain more about how I manage to nurse with the potty under Akasha, so I figured it would be easier to just take a picture.
I think Orion took this one. Nice having him play with the little camera because I get extra surprise pictures!
This one was me, though, for sure. I can't get enough laundry basket cuteness.

The Amazing Disappearing Week

I feel like I have been sucking at taking pictures or getting posts up these days. There is just alot of stressful stuff going on around here right now, and I am not making it a priority. I need to be getting the camera out more though for sure! Here are the few shots I managed to take this week.

Sheepy in the Maya Wrap. How adorable!

Elimination Ramblings

All kinds of big news in our house! I feel like I have officially gotten on the EC bandwagon! I was very here and there, mostly after naps, and always felt a little guilty because she seemed like so much I had read seemed to be true. Right from birth I noticed she made a funny little sound right before peeing, and she is almost always dry when she wakes up from a nap. Then recently I had a few really good days of almost no wet diapers, and Akasha seemed to start fussing more (or was I just noticing better?) when she had to go.

Then the ironic miracle happened. My husband became a convert! About a week ago I had an appointment I needed to leave her at home for. This does not happen very often, and I have worried in the past because she cried when I was gone. I casually mentioned she seemed to be "asking" for the potty more these days, never expecting him to do it. Well, get this! When I got home he told me she had only fussed mildly three times. Each time he put her on the potty, she went right away, and was completely fine afterward! Wow!!! I was blown away and have been really inspired to pay more attention now. It is amazing how often her sudden fusses are potty related.

Oddly enough, Orion has his own news that just happens to be related. He has been dry at night for awhile! We were using pullups with him just at night and had noticed they were dry in the morning for several days in a row, so we decided to take the plunge and get rid of them. He has been fine for a couple weeks now! We only had one small accident on the night he resisted doing a "potty check" before going to sleep. I had the feeling he wouldn't get to this stage until older, so this is great!
