I don't think I could chalk it up to awful or even bad, although there were some negative aspects. Our night started when we dropped Orion off at a friend's house... and then the Jeep wouldn't start! It has been acting a bit weird with the electrical lately, and even did this not starting thing once, but it was after waiting a few seconds. This time it really seemed like it wasn't going to start. I went inside to see if we could get a ride to switch cars, but then Ron got it started after a several minutes. Well, we still took it home to switch cars! Because at this point Ron was really worried there was something major wrong with the electrical system.
Then came dinner at Monteaux. We had been there before and liked it, so it seemed like a nice "middle of the road" choice for Valentine's as they had a good sounding steak for Atkins and didn't have a ridiculously overpriced menu for the holiday. And it was good... for the most part. Ron asked for no mashed potatoes, so when his steak came over some, we figured they just messed up. But then it was really medium well instead of medium. He told the waitress, just because he wanted to give the chef feedback, but she immediately said he must have gotten the wrong order because she noticed the potatoes. So we had to wait a bit for another steak, but it was perfect, and Ron loved the preparation. It wasn't that big of a deal as my food was so hot I didn't mind waiting awhile to eat it! A guy brought it out who was probably the manager, and he told us he would comp a dessert, so not so bad!
All was well until our waitress brought us the wrong check! At that point we figured she must be new. We had a pretty good laugh about it, though, since the check we got was way more, and Ron said, "Somebody is paying our check right now and rushing out the door!" Overall, the food was good, and the service was certainly apologetic and compensatory, if not great.
