A new bright and shiny morning, and oh, how unusual that was, as we were to find out. Wow, it turns out Ketchikan gets very few sunny days per year. As in, they are actually classified as the wettest city in the United States! This was our first view out the tender window.
Little Olivia riding over with us.
I think we were trying to make her smile here haha. I have often commented I have never managed to get a picture of Olivia smiling, but later on today I did!
Prince Orion wearing the hat they made in Kid's Club the night before.
Orion reaching for the eagle statue that was near the dock.
Our partners in crime.
The famous duck. Well, one of them anyway. These are the buses that turn into boats. Several cities have them and use them for sight seeing tours. Jessica and I thought it sounded neat, so the whole duck concept became something for the menfolk to make jokes about.
Sean, our guide. He was the best part of the tour. He traded off talking with the driver.
Oh wait, the duck whistles were the best part. They told us to blow them whenever they told a bad joke, which was frequent haha.
Oh maybe I should just blow mine all the time, says Orion. :)
I believe this was the first totem pole we saw on the trip. It was an unusual one featuring human carvings. Or maybe that is not so unusual, but at least I have never seen many like that.
Interesting shot.
Like minded Alaskan.
The famous Dolly's. This building is along the famous Creek Street, where there were many houses of prostitution. Dolly owned her own place because she "didn't like working with other women," and she stayed open and working until in her 70s! Her place stayed open longer than any other when the government started to crack down on them, and when they finally showed up and insisted she close down, she asked for two more weeks so she could have a going out of business sale!
Orion enjoying the fresh air.
And the duck hits the water! View of our ship from the harbor.
Sleepy Olivia peeking over her mom's shoulder. Ron took this shot and loves it.
And Olivia getting nibbled.
Another Ketchikan view near the end of our duck tour.
Our final assessment of the duck? Not really worth what we paid, but mildly entertaining. Having said that, the boys have decided every vacation we take needs to be someplace they have a Duck.
Olivia at dinner that night. This is her "I'm going to eat your soul" look we decided.
And, Yes! I did it. Olivia is smiling. Yeah, that is Ron's hair tickling her hehe. Ron kept giving me crap on the trip that we were going to have more pictures of Olivia than Orion. But one of the reasons was that we had dinner with her several nightgs while Orion was having a blast at Kid's Club.
Totally crashed out little monkey. Funny how we both do the exact same arm over our eyes thing when we are trying to go to sleep or crashed out.
