The Giant Woodchip Pile!

Dusty had these delivered for the garden.  There doesn't seem to be a kid in the world that can resist a climbable pile of stuff lol.

Wicked!

A friend of mine got a group discount for Wicked tickets.  I have wanted to see it ever since my daughter became a huge fan of it years ago.  I knew only the most basic idea of the story and have to admit I got a little worried after putting it in Pandora and getting almost all music from Glee and High School musical lol.  But OH MY I was BLOWN away.  The story had way more complexity than I could have imagined and was just so, so, so touching.  And that is all I will say as I am not one to give spoilers.  :)  But wow, I will just say I am so glad I decided to go.

Look What is Showing up in our Garden!

I just love Oregon.  You never know what is going to happen in the Spring.  There is so little you have to do with bulb flowers here.  They just show up!

More Progress on the Garden!

Does this mean I'm an urban farmer now?!  :D

Here is where all the hay is going:

The hay will be mulch, and where you see wood chips there are actually trenches that are filled in.  The wood will help hold moisture and send nutrients into the planting beds.  The garden is only about half finished here.  More photos to come!

Akasha Names Everything

Akasha totally cracks me up with the way she names things. She has been doing it for ages, so I just want to write a bit of it down for the sake of memory.  I think the funniest part is how the names she thinks of don't sound like any name you have ever heard.  So she might get a new little stuffed animal, and name it "Jajageeshee", or something like that.  Maybe she has a future in working for the Pokemon folks lol.  But even funnier is *what* she will name.  She sometimes names her hands individually, but more often will name every finger!  She plays with them and talks to them at night alot when some of us are trying to go to sleep.  :)  Meesha and Gogo are the two primary players, but if asked, she has names for all 10.  She might name crayons she gets in a restaurant, or a square of paper towel or...  just about anything . If she names it, it is alive and has something to say.  Kids are awesome.  :)

Croning

One of my friends decided she wanted to have a ceremony for entering cronehood.  It was a cool thing to be a part of.  I made this necklace for her as a gift:

We all put our names and the called on the names of some female ancestors when we lit these candles.  Here they are almost all burned down.

Lucid Dreaming

Orion and I had the coolest conversation about dreams recently.  He told me that he usually knows he is dreaming, and that helps him not be scared about things.  The example he gave was falling.  He said, "If I am falling from a high up place, I know I am just dreaming, so I just enjoy the scenery."  I thought that was pretty hilarious!  I told him that is called lucid dreaming, and he seemed fascinated it had a name, and proud he had that skill.  I shared with him that when I was a child, I was also a lucid dreamer, and liked to fly in my dreams, and that maybe he could try that next time he was falling.  He was pretty excited by that idea.  Looking forward to hearing more of his dream adventures in the future!
